Like many of you, Bank Investment Consultant is decamping to Florida this week for the BISA 2014 conference. Associate Editor Margarida Correia and I have been poring over the conference schedule to make a game plan for our coverage.
Weve identified a number of sessions that well be covering. Bearing in mind that conference schedules can change, and an unexpected one-on-one interview can throw a wrench into the best-laid plans, here are the sessions that piqued the interest of the editorial staff of Bank Investment Consultant.
On Wednesday, Ill be at the Navigating the New Retirement Healthcare Paradigm session, which should dovetail nicely with some of the issues weve written about in the past. Meanwhile, Margarida will be at Whats Relevant for Todays Transition Boomer. Weve certainly written about retirement and other baby boomer issues before so how can this one miss? And well both be at the 2014 Predictions general session.
Thursday will be a full day. In the morning, Margarida will be at Recruiting, Compensating and Retaining Advisors: Navigating the Changing Regulatory and Compliance Environment and later, Are We Paying Our Financial Advisors Enough. Weve written about compensation in the past so these sessions should boost our coverage in this area.
Ill be at The Coming Financial Advisory Recruiting Crisis and Best Practices to Grow Your Business. Again, I think these should be nice complements to some of our past coverage.
In the afternoon, shell be at How to Recruit Sales Superstars and, later, Are Your Advisors Referable. Meanwhile, Ill be at When Should Your Clients Retire and Profile of a High Performing Bank. And, well try our best to hear as much as possible of Optimizing Fee-Based Business. (Some of our related coverage on this can be seen here.)
Later that day, well be at Marshmallow Effect: Why So Many Retirees Make a Poor Decision and Claim Social Security at 62, which we hope will enhance our own SS coverage. Plus, well be covering Protecting Your ProgramLessons from FINRA and Other Regulatory Examinations.
Well both be at the general session, The Psychology of Financial Planning: Why Americans Cant Get Off the Block. And finally, Ill be sure to be at Steve Forbes session on Friday morning. How can I miss one of the most famous editors of all time?
