BNY Mellon has hired the former chief investment officer for Citizens Bank to lead its regional wealth management office in Providence, Rhode Island.

Thomas P. Fay, who assumed his new role on July 9, oversees a team of wealth professionals involved in business development, portfolio management, private banking and client service to high-net-worth investors in Southeast New England, the bank announced today. Fay also is part of a “select senior management team focused on expanding business throughout New England,” the bank said.

Before joining BNY Mellon, Fay served for three years as head of private banking and trust and as chief investment officer for Citizens Bank. Prior to that, he was managing director and division investment management executive for US Trust, Bank of America Private Wealth Management. All told, he has more than 20 years of financial services, according to BNY Mellon.

“As a seasoned, knowledgeable professional with deep understanding of the Rhode Island and greater New England market, Tom brings superb skills and insights to serve the state’s high-net-worth investors,” New England Regional President Vicary Graham said in a statement.
