BNY Mellon Wealth Management has opened a new office in Tysons Corner, Virginia, venturing into northern Virginia for the first time.
BNY Mellon identified Tysons Corner as a key wealth center from which to grow its client base throughout the prosperous region, the firm said in an announcement on Tuesday.
"We're looking forward to being part of Tysons' continuing evolution as a vibrant commercial and cultural center," Susan Traver, the firm's Washington regional president, said.
The office has five staff members but expects to add eight more as it grows over the next couple of years, according to BNY Mellon.
Two the five staff members are fresh hires. Tom Troxell, the former CEO of Washington, D.C., interior design firm Grace Thomas Designs and a former regional market manager at Citi Private Bank, joined as a wealth director. And Rohit Punyani joined as a wealth manager from investment adviser firm West Financial Services, where he served as a relationship manager.
The 4,000-square-foot office in Tysons Tower follows recent openings in Houston, Texas, and Orlando, Florida. It is part of the firm's growth initiative, which began in May 2014, BNY Mellon said.
Since the launch of the initiative, the firm has substantially expanded its sales force, added dozens of portfolio management and private banking professionals and established new offices throughout the U.S. and abroad, according to BNY Mellon.
