Fifth Third Securities, Inc., a subsidiary of Cincinnati-based Fifth Third Bank, has hired Gregory Scott Palmer as investment manager for the Greater Chicago area. He will oversee a “growing team of investment and insurance professionals who provide financial guidance, investment services, individual retirement strategies, education savings strategies and insurance,” the company said in a statement.

Howard Hammond, president and chief executive officer of Fifth Third Securities, noted in the statement that Palmer’s “strategic insights and strong financial advising leadership” would help guide “clients toward the most appropriate investment choices.”

Palmer has more than 17 years of experience as an investment professional, the company said.

The new hire follows the appointment earlier this month of Jeff Martin to a newly created position as director of wealth planning of Fifth Third Private Bank, which caters to high-net-worth individuals

Fifth Third Bancorp is a diversified financial services company that operates 15 affiliates with 1,316 full-service banking centers. It has $115 billion in assets.
