Wells Fargo Insurance Services named John Grotts as the managing director for its San Francisco office where the 30-year insurance industry veteran will oversee client service, market relations, employee development and recruitment and sales.

Before joining Wells Fargo Insurance Services, the fifth-largest insurance brokerage in the world and the largest bank-owned insurance brokerage in the U.S, Grotts served as CEO of Willis of California for more than 10 years.

“John's extensive industry background and his commitment to the San Francisco business community will be a valuable asset to our local office,” Brian Hetherington, regional managing director for Wells Fargo’s San Francisco Bay Area region, said in a statement. “John has had great success leading local insurance operations. I’m confident his expertise will strengthen our business as we work to address our customers’ insurance needs in this very important market.”

In August, Wells Fargo announced a new structure for its San Francisco/Bay Area operations which now combines the San Francisco South Bay and North Bay regions to provide customers with improved service and access to insurance and financial resources. It now has offices sprinkled through the Bay Area in San Francisco, San Carlos, Redwood City, Scotts Valley, Walnut Creek and Petaluma.

Grotts will report to Hetherington in his new role.
