New York Private Trust Co. announced Tuesday it hired Kevin J. Batterton as a managing director of business development and portfolio management.

Batterton, who has more than 25 years of experience in the banking and financial services industry, will report to Richard P. Trumpler, the company’s chief operating officer.

Trumpler said that the hiring of Batterton is “another key step” in New York Private Trust growth strategy, which emphasizes offering unique trust services for affluent individuals, family offices and financial advisors.

Batterton, a certified financial planner, was a senior director for BNY Mellon Wealth Management in Greenwich, Conn. He has experience advising high net worth individuals, foundations and family offices in areas of trust and estate planning, investment management and private banking.

He started his career in commercial banking with Fleet Bank, NA, formerly National Westminster Bank, where he was promoted to senior vice president and team leader. He transitioned into private wealth management in 2000 upon joining Bank of New York’s private bank in New York City.
