Sorrento Pacific Financial and CUSO Financial, sister third-party marketers for the bank channel, launched a new mobile scanning application for advisors to use in the field.

The free app is designed to allow an advisor to snap a photo of a client’s investment documentation, which is then automatically uploaded into a proprietary, web-based account management system called dataVISION.

Mitzi McMilllin, senior vice president for Business Systems at the company, said in a press release: “This investment in the mobile space continues our companies’ traditions of technology leadership for investment programs inside financial institutions. The new scanning app directly supports our customers’ mobile strategies. We continually look for new ways that technology can create efficiencies and make our financial advisors’ workflow easier so they can spend more time with clients. With everyone so mobile now, this is a clearly practical solution.”

The app can be allowed or disallowed by the user and can be installed on multiple devices by an individual advisor. Sorrento Pacific and CUSO are offering training on the app via live and online modules and also will train a financial institution’s trainer.

For now, the app is available from the Apple App Store. A version for Android devices is planned for later this year.
