SunTrust Bank is looking to serve the wealth management needs of medical practitioners.

The Atlanta-based bank has formed a medical specialty group dedicated to working with independent medical practices, owners, physicians and their families, the bank's holding company announced this week.

The new group with provide clients with investment management, commercial loans and mortgages, financial planning, trust and estate administration, insurance services, treasury and payment solutions and personal banking, among other services. 

"From helping a doctor in residency purchase a first home to navigating the challenges of owning an independent practice—and succession planning when it's time to retire—our advisors are positioned to help those in the medical industry no matter their financial need," Jerry Coleman, an executive of SunTrust Medical Specialty Group and an advisor with SunTrust Investment Services, said in a statement.

The new specialty group joins six other SunTrust units focused on clients with specific needs:  sports and entertainment; legal; business owners; international clients; corporate executives; and family wealth management.
