Wilmington Trust has opened its doors in Albany, N.Y. The wealth manager will provide clients of its affiliate M&T Bank with expanded wealth management and investment services, while developing new business, Wilmington said.

"We're excited about the opportunities in the Albany market," Rich Marsh, Wilmington's leader for upstate New York, said in a statement. "Together with our partners at M&T Bank, we will continue a long-term commitment to the Albany market and communities throughout New York."

The new wealth advisory team in Albany consists of three women advisors who joined the firm in late spring, according to a Kent Wissinger, communication manager at Wilmington.

Sandra Besso Plowinske joined as the senior private client advisor, specializing in developing strategies for the creation, protection and distribution of wealth for families. She was previously with Key Investment Services as a wealth advisor.

Elizabeth Squires joined as a fiduciary trust advisor and handles estate and trust administration matters for individuals and their families as well as institutions and foundations. Prior to joining Wilmington, she was a senior trust officer at Key Private Bank.

Heather Ford joined the team as a private banker, focusing on the banking needs of the firm's clients. She was also formerly with KeyBank, where she worked as a business banking relationship manager.

"The Albany region is a critical area to the company and one where we have a deep and long-standing commitment," Mike Keegan, M&T Bank regional president, said in a statement. "Wilmington Trust's comprehensive services and personalized approach to each client brings new opportunities to us and our clients."

M&T Bank acquired Wilmington in May 2011 and has merged its own investment management arm into Wilmington Trust to create a single wealth advisory firm serving clients throughout the United States and internationally.
